HKUST Elevates Interdisciplinary Education and Research with Launch of Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS)

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has taken a significant step to further enhance its interdisciplinary research and education by turning its Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO) into the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS), which will serve as a hub to drive new pedagogy and interdisciplinary research in emerging areas such as Art Tech and Biodesign with flexibility and agility.

T&M-DDP 20th Anniversary Dinner
Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) has been a trailblazer in interdisciplinary education at HKUST in 2003. Over the years, T&M-DDP has evolved to meet the changing needs of students and the industry and has stayed at the forefront of providing a world-class interdisciplinary education that emphasizes technological innovation and managerial leadership.

To celebrate this important 20th anniversary milestone, the T&M-DDP 20th Anniversary Celebration Dinner was held on April 15, 2023, gathering around 300 guests, including alumni, current students, HKUST faculty and staff, and corporate partners.

EVMT 10th Anniversary Homecoming and Appreciation Dinner
The Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT) program celebrated a significant milestone in 2023, as it marked the 10-year graduation anniversary for the first cohort (Class of 2013). On this occasion, the EVMT Homecoming and Appreciation Dinner was held on 2 June to thank all the contributors to the program’s success.

Over 230 people joined the dinner, including 100+ alumni, 60+ current students, 40+ guests & stakeholders, and 30+ faculty and staff members. The Dinner not only celebrated EVMT's significant milestones and collective achievements, but also a heartwarming occasion that brought together the big EVMT family after a long time apart due to the pandemic.

AIS Welcome Party
Held on 31 Aug, the AIS Welcome Party was a delightful event that marked the arrival of new postgraduate (PG) and undergraduate (UG) students into the AIS family. As the first Welcome Party after IPO being renamed as AIS, it provided an opportunity for new students, faculty and staff to come together and join activities such as experience sharing and mass games.
